TANDEM SKYDIVING
Literally. Your first jump will be a tandem skydive. You will be attached to a professional tandem instructor with a four-point harness. After experiencing up to 90 seconds of freefall, the tandem instructor will open the parachute at 5000 feet above the ground. The fun continues with a 4-8 minute scenic parachute ride and a smooth landing. Tandem skydiving is the best way for you to experience your first jump. You’ll get a taste of all of the best skydiving has to offer, both freefall and parachute descent, in the safest environment. You’ll be an active participant in the jump, flying your body through the air in tandem with your instructor. Tandem skydiving enables you to fully participate in the entire experience. Your instructor is like training wheels, providing the necessary safety controls so that you can focus on having fun in a relatively stress free environment.
When you arrive at Skydive Space Center, you’ll check in at reception and complete your waiver. Then, we’ll review your jump and video/photo package options. After all of the paperwork is completed, you’ll head to the waiting area to watch a tandem skydive video (approx. 60 minutes).
Once everyone is checked in, your instructor will call your name. Our tandem instructors train their own students personally, so you will be in a different training group than your friends. The instructor will review exit procedures, freefall body position and landing position. They’ll also provide some insider tips such as how to look awesome for your video and pictures, various relaxation techniques, and adjustments for maximizing comfort. Finally, your instructor will fit and adjust your tandem skydive harness(30-60 minutes).
You’ll fly in one of our two Super King Air B90s. As the fastest climbing skydiving airplanes in the country, it will be a short 6-9 minute flight. We mostly fly over the gorgeous coastline and the Space Coast. When we get about half way up, your instructor will make final adjustments, safety check your harness and connect your harness for skydiving. At that point, there is time for a quick refresher on the training, fitting the goggles and moving toward the exit door (6-9 minutes).
After exiting the airplane, you’ll be in freefall for 70-90 seconds depending on the jump you’ve selected. After experiencing up to 90 seconds of freefall, the tandem instructor will open the parachute at about 5000 feet above the ground (70-90 seconds).
For some people the parachute ride can be the most enjoyable part of the entire experience. The parachutes have a remarkable degree of controllability with the option of inducing high speed and high g-force turns, or to simply live in the moment by floating around and soaking up the view. If weather and traffic conditions allow, we’ll even hand over the controls and let you fly the parachute (4-8 minutes).
After your jump, you’ll return to the hangar and remove your gear. If you purchased video and photos of your skydive, it will take about 30 minutes to edit your video. There will also be a certificate and coupons for you to pick up at the office, as well as a package that explains how you can become a licensed skydiver (30-60 minutes).
The 15,000 foot skydive is the marathon of freefall. It’s not quite an ultra but it’s still a huge endeavor, and still more freefall than any other skydive centers. It’s a 70-second freefall followed by a 7 minute parachute flight.
This is the World’s Highest Tandem Skydive with the longest freefall and it’s only available here at Skydive Space Center! It’s not quite Felix Baumgartner’s space jump, but it’s as close as you can get on your first skydive This is an incredible 90 seconds of freefall with a 7 minute parachute flight.
We do offer a 11,000 foot option for those on a tight budget. If this is only skydive in your budget then we really want to make sure you get to experience it.
